Our Wood Sustainability
We have long been committed to using sustainable woods, as our much-loved traditional woods have been exploited and over-harvested, devastating not only the land and its flora and fauna, but also wreaking havoc on its human inhabitants, destroying communities and and their way of life.
Increasingly, though, clients have been asking if there was some way to present responsibly-sourced woods such as Ebony, using methods that did not harm their native habitats.
Our search has led us to two organizations that are at the forefront of reforestation, economic development, and responsible harvesting: Tree-Nation and the Congo Basin Institute.
Tree-Nation has a goal to plant 1 trillion trees world-wide by 2050, not only planting trees but seeding entire ecosystems to allow the local environment to thrive.
Additionally, they support the local economies with stability and a path forward.
The Congo Basin Institute, along with UCLA and Taylor Guitars, coordinates The Ebony Project, an ambitious initiative to repopulate depleted Ebony forest ecosystems in a manner that restores the entire ecosystem while providing economic good for the local population, using Preservation-Based Harvesting.

Preservation-based harvesting, such as that employed by The Ebony Project, has been shown to increase threatened species populations by using responsible management, highly controlled and regulated cutting, and local involvement and employment. Along with these, we are committed to purchasing Ebony from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified lumber dealers. |

We are proud to partner with these international organizations to help preserve endangered forests, fight climate change, and aid local populations, and use a portion of our profits to help preserve these beautiful trees, and their ecosystems, for future generations.
