The WAVE comes in several shapes and sizes, so which one to choose?
Let's look first at the height.
We'll have to measure the neck to determine the amount of infill we need. But remember, we're moving the contact point between the body and the instrument closer to the the balance core of the body, so we're going to measure from close to that point.
First, locate the back left corner of the jaw- that little bump back there. This area will be our primary contact point. Now we'll measure straight down from there until we reach the shoulder- usually at the collarbone.
If that distance is about 9 cm or less, you should likely go with the lowest WAVE, the 1".
If it measures 9 cm to 13 cm, you might try the middle, 1.25".
Anything 13 cm and over, look to the highest, 1.5".
Yes, there is some overlap, and these are only general guidelines. Some shorter-necked players might prefer the higher chinrest, or the other way around. There's no way to know for sure. That's why we offer-
